ANDY YOUNT BJJ

Andy Yount BJJ has been the leader in Montgomery County, teaching Jiu-jitsu for the past 15 years. Professor Andy is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black belt and head instructor of Andy Yount BJJ. Professor Andy started his journey 29 years ago when his dad introduced him to Jiu-Jitsu.  It was around this time the Gracie family was just arriving in the USA and were dominating UFC and MMA. His career in Jiu-Jitsu was paused for a while when he started playing professional baseball.

After a hand injury ended his baseball career,  Andy decided to dedicate himself to Jiu-Jitsu with the goal of owning and operating several Jiu-Jitsu gyms in the East Texas area. Andy received his black belt in 2016 while training under the lineage of Professor JW Wright, Professor David Adiiv, and Master Royler Gracie. He still actively competes and enjoys challenging himself in competitions and in class. When Andy is on the mat his infectious attitude and teaching skills make him a magnet for those wanting to learn Jiu-Jitsu and better their lives.  Andy recently expanded into Huntsville, Texas opening Gracie Humaita Huntsville, in November 2020.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defense martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting and submission holds. It focuses on the skill of controlling one’s opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. A child who masters Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be able to take control of an attacker and neutralize them in realistic situations.

When they gain this knowledge, the child will also develop more self-confidence. The Jiu-Jitsu self-defense skills are specifically relevant to help children deal with bullying. You are never too old to start.  We have adults of all ages bettering their lives.  Some not starting until their 50s, and now actively training on a regular basis! Should you enjoy your training so much that you would like to get out and compete, we go to several tournaments a year where competitors of all skill levels and ages meet up to test their skills against others.
